Net Zero Cities limits (07.05.2024)
I am very proud of Krakow, Wrocław, Łódź, Rzeszów and Warsaw in Poland - they are Mission Cities. They have all committed to achieving climate neutrality by 2030 and inspire other cities to follow by 2050. It is an absolutely needed initiative in a warming world - we want to create energy that is environmentally friendly and futuristic. Nevertheless, this map comes with many questions!
Where are the limits of our cities? Bełchatów is the largest thermal power station in Europe - it supports Poland with power, how out cities should attribute its CO2 emissions? In the South - Krakow has an airport & one important power plant outside of its borders - will it be climate neutral if it moves all CO2-heavy activities outside? Or is it cheating?
I have more: why our small cities are NOT mission cities? Why we do not have easy access to data about emissions? The map is based on open data and estimations - we still do not have clear information from energy providers on energy usage per building/neighbourhood/district/county.

empower - election map (17.04.2024)
Recently we got local elections in Poland. What is beautiful about my country is that although our parliment is dominated by few parties, about 80% of counties (cities, towns...) are ruled by independed candidates. The map shows number of votes that each candidate got. White stroke indicates if he won. I think this way of presenting results is better from cartogram, because you don't need to show population data. You easily spot largest metropolitan areas and see which party lost their bets. Earth from Space (17.02.2024)
I just want to show with this graphic how Earth is beautiful. It was rendered in Blender from 3D model of Earth, created thanks to data from NASA & NASA Visible Earth.
Antarctica (17.01.2024)
Did ever you look at the world from perspective of Antarctica? Or at the oceans, from perspective of seals?
Here you can see seals tracks on the map. Sensors attached to them were used not only for biological studies of their location, but also to check temperature and salinity of the waters they passed through.
